MIDNIGHT KNITTER

* This pattern is Noro Kureyon, two strands held together.  Or you can use any chunky yarn that will create a tight fabric on a K crochet hook.

yarn: Noro Kureyon
size: 4" wide x 3-1/2" tall

photo for zipper positioning only

Make Two
-with K crochet hook, ch 3 or 4 loosely, join to form circle, do not turn

-ch 1, work 9 sc evenly around (NOT in ch space, but 2-3 sc in each ch, that way it won't be so bulky in the middle)

-for all rounds: do not join at end of round, do not turn

-work 2 sc in each sc around to a total of 20 sc (your piece will be a bit like a bowl, but don't worry, the next round will flatten it out)

-continue making spiral (each line of instructions is NOT a complete round)

-1 sc, 2 hdc in each of next 5, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 2 sc in next, 1 sc, 2 sc in next, 4 sc
-2 sc in next, 5 sc, 2 sc in next, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in each of next 2
-1 hdc and one dc in next sc, 6 sc, 1 hdc, join to next sc
-weave in ends

NOTE: the edges will still curl a bit, but once you sew both pieces together it wont curl

FINISHING:
-sew along edges (or sc along edges), leaving top open (straighter section)

-modify an old zipper to the length of the opening (or buy a short one about 3-1/2" long) and sew to the inside of the change purse 1/2" below the edge.
